Best Time to Buy Appliances in India

When do you think you should buy home and kitchen appliances? As and when the need arises? Wrong! You could only end up spending more on the purchases. If you plan ahead, you’ll have plenty of time to find a good deal before you actually need the appliance and before your old appliances give up on life. This is because there are certain times of year that are best for purchasing washing machines, refrigerators, stoves, air conditioners, etc.
Always lookout, if your appliances started performing badly. Keep a track of its estimated lifespan. Replacing your old appliances would obviously save your electricity bills, as new appliances come with five star rating and even more than that, which is for saving electricity and performing better than old appliances, so keeping oldies is not a feasible option when it comes to appliances.

Best Time of The Year to Purchase Home and Kitchen Appliances

1. October to February for Air Conditioners

During this period, temperature goes down so does the prices of AC. Since demand for AC is somewhat nil in winters, its best if you plan ahead for next summers and buy during this time, and avoid buying it when demand would be high. A good bargain. Check out the prices yourself.

2. May to July for Coffee Maker and Refrigerator

As demand for coffee is more in winters except for coffee addicts, this time of the year there are discounts on these products, especially on Philips models but there is not much change in price of these, Refrigerator companies on the other hand doll out various new models in May so which means there are discounts on last year models which is certainly a good deal.

3. September to October on Most Appliances

Before Diwali, most companies come with new models (even in mobile and laptops) its because Diwali is the time Indians consider most auspicious period, that's why major purchases (sometimes bulk) are done at this time, for home also. To eliminate old appliance models from shelf, discounts and bargains are made on older ones, so its the ultimate time to buy your appliances.

4. New Year for Discount on Discounted Appliances

As January hits, company has to move ahead with new models, that's why they further discount the last year appliances just like stock clearance SALE. There will be better deals but fewer options to choose from.

5. Online Hunting with comparison

Amazon.in, Snapdeal and Flipkart are the major competitors in India. They offer the widest variety of all appliances with prompt delivery. You can always keep track of your desired appliances there and watch out for major price fluctuations everyday. And don't forget to compare prices with other sellers and on both sites.

6. National Holidays

Appliance stores also offer major discounts on National holidays like Independence Day and Republic day just like the retail and grocery stores. Gas stoves and chimney companies offer various deals on these days, so watch out next time.

But what if you need an appliance immediately and don't have time for planning the purchase?

You must have heard of Greendust in India? If not, let me tell you its an online shopping site. But whats so different about it which separates it from other shopping sites? It offers fully refurbished appliances of all sort, at cheapest rates. They have factory seconds (rejected by company for some minor shortcoming but these are not second hand or used) refurbished for sale. We bought a LG fully automatic washing machine last year for 16000 approx. whose market rate was 22000 approx. at that time. It was factory seconds product and only fault in it was, it had one dent on its body otherwise its working like any new model. Also people sell them their used items, which they sell after refurbishing.

So therefore, given the many options to buy your home and kitchen appliances from, its not worth it to pay full price of the appliances. Hence planning is worthwhile to save money and not regret later. Happy Shopping !!
